The name is procedent from Berlin before the name was The Makers, when the group travel there they change the name for Spandau Ballet, a prission from Berlin.

Gary Kemp and his brother Martin Kemp did the group in 1979, with John Keeble, Tony Hadley and Steve Norman. They start to play in a London pub.
Goup's style is pop, but before this the group always play song romantics.
The best exit was with the single "True", in 1983.
Spandau Ballet also plays in Wembley Stadium of London.
Finalment the group was separated when "Heart Like a Sky" single fail.
